Classic Equine Green Reiner Classes

  • Recognizes achievement levels of Classic Equine Green Reiner through the Classic Equine Green Reiner Rewards Program. The program awards Montana Silversmiths trophy buckles at one achievement level.
  • Family oriented, fun, and educational for all ages of riders
  • Exhibitors can gain more knowledge by being given the opportunity to talk to judges at the conclusion of the class

Associate NRHA Membership required

  • Non Pro Declarations NOT required with Associate or Youth memberships (General members DO have to complete a Non Pro Declaration)
  • Competition licenses are not required
  • No ownership restrictions
  • Must use NRHA patterns 1–16. However, simple lead changes are allowed.
  • The rider can choose to ride with one or two hands
  • Standard NRHA Rules for legal bits and attire (long sleeve shirt, hat/helmet, boots, western saddle and western bridle)
  • NRHA records are kept on riders who show in these classes in Category 10. Results do not count toward NRHA Top Ten or NRHA Year End awards.
  • A Green Level show must be held in conjunction with an NRHA Ancillary show
  • Entry fees cannot exceed $30 and Show management cannot charge exhibitors a judge’s fee
  • Green Level 1 – Open to riders who have less than $200 Lifetime Earnings / 200 Green Points / 75 Youth Points (exclude SS)
  • Green Level 2 – Open to riders who have less than $350 Lifetime Earnings / 350 Green Points / 175 Youth Points (exclude SS)
  • (a) Number of horses to be used for computation shall be those horses actually competing; excluding the number of horses entered but scratched from competition. There shall not be a cap placed on the number of points able to be earned in any one class.
  • (b) Neither a no score nor a 0 are eligible to receive points in a Green Reiner class; however, this does not alter the scale of points for placing.
  • (c) For example: If 20 horses compete in Green Reiner 1, 1st will receive 20 points, 2nd will receive 19 points, 3rd will receive 18 points, etc.

  • Often provides a less expensive place to play as entry fees should be less than a typical show
  • Family oriented, fun, and educational for all ages of riders
  • Exhibitors can gain more knowledge by being given the opportunity to talk to judges to talk to at the conclusion of the class

  • These shows may be held as a stand-alone event or with an NRHA Ancillary show
  • Entry Level Ride & Slide classes can be jackpot only, or they may have up to $100 in added money for each class
  • Entry fees can be no more than ten percent (10%) of the added money or $20 if jackpotted
  • Patterns can be relaxed or determined by show management. The only pattern requirements are 2 sliding stops, 2 circles in each direction, 4 spins to the left, and 4 spins to the right. Simple lead changes are allowed
  • Ride & Slide Open, Non Pro, and Youth Level 1 – Open to riders who have less than $75 Lifetime Earnings / 50 Green Points / 25 Youth Points (exclude SS)
  • Ride & Slide Open, Non Pro, and Youth Level 2 – Open to riders who have less than $150 Lifetime Earnings / 100 Green Points / 50 Youth Points (exclude SS)

What Else Do I Need To Know?

People wishing to compete in Green or Ride & Slide classes or shows can join NRHA and participate with an Associate membership. Associate memberships are a great way to get a taste of what NRHA has to offer at a lower cost. Associate members receive a sampling of NRHA member benefits including a free electronic subscription to the NRHA Reiner, the NRHA newsletter, and access to ReinerSuite (including free member reports), plus access to entry level opportunities like the Green Rewards Program. Associate members cannot vote in NRHA elections and cannot own horses shown in standard NRHA competition.

Yes. Standard NRHA members can show in entry level classes as long as they meet the eligibility requirements for the class.

You will compete against other riders who have the same or close to the same experience as you. Green and Ride & Slide shows have eligibility requirements. In a sense, this “caps” the class at a level of competitiveness based on either NRHA earning or points.

Ride & Slide shows can be hosted by anyone who is interested. Green shows must be held in conjunction with an ancillary show. NRHA Jackpot Affiliate Level shows only can be held by an official NRHA Affiliate. NRHA Affiliates are listed at nrha.com.

NRHA Judges are used at all of these shows. They all have gone through the same training and testing to be accredited as an NRHA Judge. Rules for judging can be found in the official NRHA Handbook.

No. The only requirement is that riders wear a long sleeve shirt, hat (or helmet), boots; and use a western saddle and bridle.
